Enable Bulk SMS Functionality for Zoho CRM Custom Modules

Easily enable SMS, WhatsApp, and Call functionality for any custom module in Zoho CRM. With HelloSend, you can interact with contacts from custom modules just like standard ones—directly from the record view.

1Create the HelloSend DM Button

To add a button to any custom module:

    Go to Zoho CRM > Setup

  • 2

    Use the top search bar to find Links

  • 3

    In the left panel, select your desired custom module (e.g., Deals)

    Click on + Buttons

Fill out the Create Button form:

Name: HelloSend DM

Action: Open a Widget

Select Page

Choose Position (a preview will also be shown)

Select Layout(s) as needed

Widget Configuration:

Click + Create New Widget

Fill in the following:

Name: HelloSend DM

Widget Type: Button

Hosting: External

Base URL:

  • Select relevant Profile(s) (e.g., Administrator)

2Add a Lookup Field

    Go to Zoho CRM > Setup

    Search for Modules

    Open the HelloSend History module

    Click on the default layout (usually Standard)

    Drag and drop a Lookup field

Configure the Lookup Field:

Label: Deals_Lookup (or the appropriate custom module name)

Lookup Module: The module you linked the HelloSend button to

Related List Title: HelloSend

Click Save

3Configure Phone Numbers

    Click the HelloSend DM button in your custom module

    In the Send SMS panel, you'll find the "To Number" field with a ⚙️ gear icon

Phone Configuration Popup:

  • Click the gear icon to open the phone number configuration popup

  • View current Primary & Secondary Phone Fields from Zoho CRM

  • Update phone fields as needed—your changes will appear in the dropdown

  • You can also select phone fields from related modules (like Accounts or Deals)

This gives you the flexibility to choose the most appropriate contact number for messaging.

4Associate Lookup Field

What is "Associate Lookup Field"?

The Associate Lookup Field connects your custom module (e.g., Deals, Leads) to the HelloSend History module. This ensures each message is linked to the correct record, allowing complete message tracking.

Why It Matters

  • Creates a direct connection between message history and custom records

  • Enables message tracking per record

  • Allows users to view all related SMS under a specific Deal, Lead, etc.

How to Set It Up

    Go to Zoho CRM > Setup > Modules

    Open the HelloSend History module (Twilio or RingCentral)

    In the layout editor, add a Lookup field:

    • Label: Deals_Lookup, Leads_Lookup, or similar
    • Lookup Module: Your custom module (e.g., Deals)
    • Save the layout

    Then go to HelloSend DM settings and map this lookup field under the Associate Lookup Field section.
